REGULATION of “SALENTO FINIBUS TERRAE 2008”- 6th edition


THE FESTIVAL THEMES ARE:

Human rights (no documentaries- only fiction)
Comic cinema
Comedy
Drama
Animation (no documentaries)
For 2008 edition a section dedicated to Dance Fiction from its origins (Pizziche, Tarante, all types of folk dance) has been created.
“COREA- Ballo di San Vito” is the award of this section
A section dedicated to school in general (documentaries admitted too)



CONDITION FOR ADMISSION
The competition is open to directors and productions firms that present shorts made in 35mm film, 16mm film, digital or beta.
The longest duration admitted is twenty minutes; the oldest production year admitted is 2005.
For the preselection, films must be in minidv or dvd format; each participant can send two works at the most, but finally only one will be admitted.
Works selected in 2008 by other festival organizations for the provinces of Bari, Brindisi, Lecce, Taranto up to the 6th edition of this festival, will not be admitted, under immediate pain of banishment from Salento Finibus Terrae.
Works selected in the previous Salento Finibus Terrae editions will not be admitted
The authors of the works chosen for the festival will receive a communication from Day by Day. Within fifteen days from this communication, every author must send a minidv or beta or 35 mm film copy; for 16 mm film, a beta or minidv copy must be sent.
Each author will be considered responsible for the content of the presented film; in no case, neither the organizers nor the jury will be.
Registrations must be received within 30th April 2008 (for the deadline of delivery, the stamp will be checked).
The works participating in the festival will be shown on our web site www.salentofinibusterrae.it
Works must be sent by mail (indicating: no commercial value) including this regulation completed with the registration form signed on every page. Also the dialogue list written in English must be attached.
DVD or minidv works sent for the preselection will not be given back. Only the original material in master beta, minidv and film will be given back by 15th September 2008 : the expedition expenses will be carried by the addressee.
Uncompleted and/or illegible material will not be considered. Shorts and all material expediting costs are at participants’ expenses, possible customs duty included. The festival management is not responsible for theft, damages or loss of works.

SCHOOL COMPETITION:
In this section, students and teachers of Italian and foreign primary and secondary schools will be involved; this year the subject is “BULLYING”
This regulation must be signed by the School Manager and/or the school legal representative who shall gather a definite permission given by the parents or the one who has the paternal authority for every Minor participating as an author or an actor
Through this regulation signature, the School Manager and/or the school legal representative allows Day by Day srl to publish photos and news concerning participating works on daily, weekly and monthly publications and festival catalogue, in order to promote also this festival. Besides, the School Manager and/or the school legal representative allows Day by Day srl to show the whole short film during other national/international movie projections, also through tv and internet, against no reward, and exonerates Day by Day henceforth from any responsibility in case of an improper use of the works by third parties.
A proper commission will select the finalist works.
Day by Day will communicate the finalists by e-mail or registered mail or fax.
The ones who will be selected shall send a minidv or dvd copy to Day by Day srl, Via Andrea Salaino 7, 20144 Milano, Italy within 30th April 2008. The longest duration admitted is 10 minutes.

SELECTION AND PRIZES
Every end of month starting from 30th October 2007, a commission appointed by the festival art director will meet to select the works sent to our agency . The shorts selected will be communicated to the author/production firm by phone or by e-mail.
A jury of experts, nominated by the festival art director , will meet within May 2008,
will consider and judge the selected works and will award the following prizes:

SECTION: MONDO CORTO (“short world”)

SECTION: CORTI CORTISSIMI (“very very short films)”
Best film nameplate and € 1.000,00 (onethousand/00)

Best protagonist actor nameplate
Best protagonist actress nameplate
SEZIONE: FICTION DANZA (dance)
“COREA – Ballo di San Vito”, a sculpture by Floriana Pagliara, and
€700,00(sevenhundred/00) for the best film

Accomodation is foreseen only for the winners (board and lodging, one night in a single/double room). Transport expenses (flight, car, train, etc…) will not be refunded.
Within June 30 2008 the winners will be informed about the prizes and they have to confirmed their presence at the festival.

ACCEPTANCE
The participation to the competition implies the full acceptance and respect of the above regulation in every part of its.
This regulation is written in Italian and English Language: in case of linguistic misunderstanding about the translation, the Italian language will have the prevalence.
Should any dispute arise between the parties, the only authorized court is the one of Prato without fail
