San Vito dei Normanni is about 20 km from Brindisi, m. 110 over
sea level, only 9 km from the Adriatic Sea, 6 km from Carovigno,
14 from Ostuni, 17 from Ceglie Messapica, 12 km from Torre Guaceto,
a W.W.F. natural reserve.
The San Vito foundation probably dates back to the tenth century
thanks to Shiavoni, a slav population coming from the other Adriatic
side.
There are numerous masserie (typical farms) to visit in this zone,
Alto Salento, which is plunged into millennial olive-trees.
In this wonderful country it is possible to admire plantations of
almond-tree, fig-tree, grape/creeper and greens/vegetables.
